Art/ists in Unusual Places - DIY Symposium Exhibition

The Underdogs: Art/ists in unusual places was a two-day symposium focused on exploring DIY (do it yourself) arts culture in rural, regional, remote and ‘emerging’ cities alongside an integrated exhibition. The symposium will comprise of a series of lectures, presentations and discussions surrounding how arts practice / culture survives, and sometimes thrives, in unexpected places.
Art/ists in unusual places included presentations from a range of artist-run initiatives from around the UK and Europe including HAL (Hull, UK), Plan 9 (Bristol, UK), one.c (South Brent, Devon, UK), Enough Room for Space (Global), The Cube (Bristol, UK), PL:ay Festival (Plymouth, UK), eXpo (Nottingham, UK), Diskurs (Giessen, DE).
